Monferrato Rosso “Perida” 2017 Cascina Christiana
The Monferrato Rosso “Perida” comes from the rolling hills of Piedmont, in the heart of the Monferrato area, where Cascina Christiana produces wines that reflect both the land and tradition. It is made from Cabernet Sauvignon, a Bordeaux grape that finds in this region the perfect balance between richness, freshness, and finesse. The vineyards benefit from excellent exposure and significant day-night temperature variations, allowing the grapes to ripen slowly and fully, developing complex aromas and ripe tannins.
Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, preserving the grape’s natural fruit expression. The wine then spends 12 months in oak barriques, where it gains depth, smoothness, and elegant notes of spices, vanilla, and tobacco that blend beautifully with the varietal’s dark fruit character.
In the glass, Perida displays a deep ruby red hue with garnet reflections. The bouquet is complex and expressive, with aromas of blackberries, blackcurrants, and plums, followed by nuances of leather, chocolate, and sweet spices. Hints of toasted oak and balsamic notes emerge with aeration, adding further layers to its aromatic profile.
The palate is structured yet refined, offering a velvety texture supported by fine-grained tannins and balanced acidity. It unfolds with flavors of ripe fruit and subtle oak, leading to a long, persistent, and elegant finish.
Perida showcases the potential of Cabernet Sauvignon in Monferrato, combining the grape’s international character with the finesse and elegance typical of Piedmont’s best reds.
Perfect with grilled red meats, game, or mature cheeses, it is also an excellent meditation wine, reflecting Cascina Christiana’s dedication to crafting wines that unite tradition, terroir, and sophistication.
