Derthona Timorasso 2021 Vignaioli Battegazzore
Derthona Timorasso by Vignaioli Battegazzore is one of the finest expressions of this native Piedmontese grape, which has recently been rediscovered and now stands among the great white wines of Italy. Timorasso is a demanding variety, but when cultivated and vinified with care, it yields complex, age-worthy wines with great personality.
This wine comes from hillside plots rich in marl, clay and limestone, which give the wine its distinctive saltiness and mineral drive. Fermented and matured in stainless steel to maintain varietal purity, it also spends time on fine lees to enhance depth and structure.
In the glass, it shows a bright straw yellow color, with an evolving bouquet of white flowers, stone fruit, candied citrus, flint, wild herbs and a subtle hydrocarbon note that develops with age. On the palate, it is full-bodied, savory, fresh and balanced, with a very long and elegant finish.
This is a noble white wine that stands up to aging and rivals many international benchmarks. Perfect with rich pasta dishes, aged cheeses, white meats or mushroom-based recipes.
