Authentic, age-worthy wines that embody the soul of Tortona’s terroir.

Vignaioli Battegazzore is a young and ambitious winery located in Mombisaggio, a hillside hamlet in the municipality of Tortona, Piedmont, at the heart of the Derthona wine region. Founded by Bruno Battegazzore, an architect turned winemaker, and his partner Elisa, the project is a revival of a long-standing family tradition, rooted in passion, sustainability, and respect for the land.

The vineyards are scattered across several tiny plots, never exceeding one hectare each, just as they were in the past. These plots rest on soils from the Mombisaggio Formation, alternating rapidly between clayey marl and limestone, giving each parcel distinct character. Each vineyard has its own name and story—like La Maggiora, the estate’s flagship site, with slopes facing from northwest to southeast, enabling staggered harvests and remarkable aromatic depth.

The winemaking philosophy is artisanal and minimal-intervention, focused on native grape varieties: Timorasso, crafted as a classic Derthona and a cru selection Maggiora, and Barbera, vinified as Monleale, aged in wood according to the local disciplinary. All of Vignaioli Battegazzore’s wines stand out for their authenticity, age-worthiness, and their deep connection to the terroir of Tortona.
