Chablis 2024 Alain Gautheron
The 2024 Chablis by Alain Gautheron comes from Fleys, in the heart of Chablis, where the Gautheron family has cultivated vineyards for seven generations. This corner of northern Burgundy is renowned for its distinctive expression of Chardonnay, combining vibrant freshness, aromatic precision and a characteristic mineral profile. This cuvée reflects the identity of the appellation through a direct, balanced style deeply connected to its terroir.
The grapes come from vines aged between 15 and 55 years, planted on predominantly north- and northeast-facing slopes. The vineyards are rooted in Kimmeridgian limestone and marl, rich in ancient marine fossils. These soils, together with the region's cool climate, contribute to the wine's freshness, structure and sense of place.
Winemaking follows a traditional approach. After pressing and static settling of the must, fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled tanks. Maturation also occurs entirely in tanks, without oak, preserving the clarity of the fruit and the natural expression of Chardonnay.
In the glass, the wine displays a brilliant pale golden colour with delicate green reflections. The bouquet opens with fresh floral aromas, followed by notes of peach, apricot and lemongrass, accompanied by a subtle hint of fresh butter. On the palate, the wine reveals a harmonious balance between ripeness and lively acidity, with a supple texture and refreshing energy. The finish brings together mineral and herbal nuances, complementing the wine's gentle roundness.
The 2024 Chablis by Alain Gautheron pairs naturally with oysters, scallops, shellfish, salmon tartare and delicate fish dishes. Serve at 10–12°C as an aperitif or 12–14°C alongside food. According to the producer, the wine offers an ageing potential of 3–5 years, potentially longer depending on the vintage.
