Fleurie Clos Vernier 2019 Domaine Lafarge-Vial
Domaine Lafarge-Vial Fleurie Clos Vernier 2019 is a refined and deeply terroir-driven expression of Fleurie, one of the most celebrated crus of Beaujolais. Made from 100% Gamay, the wine comes from old vines planted in a particularly distinguished parcel, where careful vineyard work and traditional winemaking allow the character of the site to emerge with remarkable precision.
Domaine Lafarge-Vial is the project founded by Frédéric Lafarge and Chantal Vial, daughter of the renowned Burgundian winemaker Michel Lafarge. After establishing their experience in Burgundy, the couple turned to Beaujolais to create a domaine built around artisanal farming and a strong respect for terroir. The vineyards are managed according to biodynamic principles, although the domaine is not officially certified, while vineyard work is carried out by hand. Horses are used on the steepest slopes, helping preserve the structure and natural balance of the soils.
The 2019 vintage produces a Fleurie with an excellent balance between ripe fruit and freshness. In the glass, it shows a bright ruby colour, followed by an expressive aromatic profile of cherry, raspberry and other red berries, intertwined with delicate violet and rose notes. Subtle spices, aromatic herbs and a mineral character gradually emerge, adding complexity and depth.
On the palate, the Fleurie Clos Vernier 2019 is beautifully focused and graceful, with a silky texture and fine, well-integrated tannins. Vibrant acidity gives energy to the fruit, while the mineral structure carries the wine towards a long, persistent finish.
This is a Fleurie defined by elegance, precision and authenticity, rather than by excessive concentration or weight. A distinctive Gamay with the depth and finesse to demonstrate the extraordinary potential of Beaujolais when the vineyard and its terroir are allowed to speak clearly.
