Arbois Pupillin Ploussard “Chambines” 2023 Cellier Saint Benoît
The Arbois Pupillin Ploussard “Chambines” 2023 from Cellier Saint Benoît is a compelling and authentic expression of Ploussard (Poulsard), the emblematic red grape of the Jura and especially of Pupillin, widely regarded as its finest terroir. In the hands of Benjamin Benoit, Ploussard is interpreted with a focus on purity, finesse and terroir transparency.
“Chambines” perfectly captures the soul of the grape: a light, luminous colour, delicate structure and an aromatic profile of remarkable charm. The nose opens with elegant floral notes of violet, followed by precise, crunchy dark fruit aromas of black cherry, blackcurrant and blackberry, enhanced by spicy hints of pepper. The bouquet is airy yet intense, gaining complexity with aeration.
On the palate, the wine is juicy, focused and exceptionally fresh, with ultra-fine tannins that gently frame the fruit without ever dominating. The balance between fruit concentration, acidity and lightness is outstanding, making this Ploussard both highly drinkable and deeply expressive. While already delicious today, it also shows the structure to age gracefully for several years in the cellar.
As with all wines from Cellier Saint Benoît, “Chambines” is crafted through artisanal, low-intervention viticulture, with handwork in the vineyards and minimal manipulation in the cellar. An aeration of 1–2 hours before serving is recommended to allow the wine to fully раскры its aromatic complexity.
At the table, this Ploussard pairs beautifully with red meats, game dishes, and refined cuisine that highlights its elegance and freshness, confirming its strong gastronomic appeal.
