Vino Rosso L’Uvaggio Luca Gili - Officina del Vino
In the heart of Canavese, among ancient morainic hills and stony soils, L’Uvaggio represents the purest expression of Officina del Vino and the creative mind of Luca Gili. It’s a red wine born from a simple yet profound idea: to vinify all available grapes together, as farmers once did in the old Piedmont countryside. The result is a living testimony of tradition, interpreted with contemporary craftsmanship and sensitivity.
Composed of around fifteen different varieties, both red and white, many of them ancient and native to Canavese, L’Uvaggio captures the soul of a complex terroir. Each vintage is unique, as the proportions of grapes and maturation time naturally vary. Some vintages age in barriques, others in small barrels — always chosen to enhance texture and purity without excess.
The wine displays a deep garnet-red color with ruby highlights. On the nose, it opens with mature red fruits, blackberry, raspberry, plum and sweet spices, accompanied by floral nuances and a hint of toast. A subtle volatile note adds brightness and lift, giving energy to the bouquet — a hallmark of Gili’s style.
On the palate, it’s dry, fresh and moderately soft, with mild tannins and excellent balance. The mouthfeel is juicy and savory, leading to a long, mineral finish that reflects the moraine soils of its origin. L’Uvaggio perfectly captures the dual nature of Canavese wines: rustic and refined, generous yet agile.
More than a wine, L’Uvaggio is a manifesto — a tribute to the collective spirit of the vineyard and the timeless wisdom of blending. It embodies Luca Gili’s experimental approach and his deep respect for the land. Enjoy it with traditional Piedmontese starters, cured meats, or light meat dishes. Each sip reveals a story of passion, roots, and rediscovery — a glass that sings the authentic voice of Canavese.
