Capichera 2017 Capichera
Capichera 2017 is an iconic Vermentino from Sardinia, crafted by the historic Capichera winery, a true benchmark for quality white wines in Italy. First produced in 1980, this wine has become a symbol of the Gallura region, celebrated for its distinctive style that combines richness, minerality, and Mediterranean charm.
The Vermentino vines, aged between 10 and 25 years, grow on granitic and sandy soils rich in silica, at about 120 meters above sea level, surrounded by the wild Mediterranean scrub typical of northern Sardinia. The grapes are hand-harvested in September, softly pressed, and fermented in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures (16–18 °C) for about four weeks. The wine then matures for around six months, mostly in stainless steel and partly in French oak barriques, which enhance texture and aromatic depth.
In the glass, Capichera 2017 shines with a straw-yellow color and golden reflections. The bouquet is complex and floral, featuring hawthorn, lavender, rosemary, thyme, and exotic fruit such as pineapple, with subtle hints of flint and herbs. On the palate it is smooth, full and elegant, with a remarkable balance between fruit, minerality, and freshness, leading to a long and savory finish.
This Vermentino perfectly expresses the soul of Sardinia—sunny, marine, and refined. Ideal with seafood dishes, shellfish, grilled fish or white meats, it stands among the finest Mediterranean whites, capable of aging gracefully and competing with top wines worldwide.
