List of products by brand FIGLIEJ

Founded in 2016 in Settimo Vittone, just a few kilometers from Carema, Figliej Winery is the project of Riccardo Prola and Bianca Seardo, heirs to seven generations of mountain viticulture. The estate manages 3 hectares of certified organic vineyards, planted with over 25 native grape varieties, including Nebbiolo (Picotendro), Neretto Gentile, and Erbaluce.

The vineyards, aged between 50 and 100 years, grow on steep morainic terraces cultivated with the traditional topia pergola system. No chemical treatments are used, and in the cellar fermentations are spontaneous with indigenous yeasts.

Production is limited to 7,000–8,000 bottles a year, wines of remarkable finesse, freshness, and verticality that reflect the heroic viticulture of Alto Canavese.

The Figliej winery is one of the most authentic and fascinating estates in the Canavese area, located in Settimo Vittone, just a few kilometers from Carema and the border with Valle d’Aosta. Officially founded in 2016 by Riccardo Prola and Bianca Seardo, the estate is deeply rooted in a family tradition of heroic mountain viticulture that spans seven generations.

The name Figliej comes from the road where the winery stands and probably refers to an area once rich in fig trees. Here, in this remote corner of northern Piedmont, Riccardo and Bianca decided to revive abandoned vineyards, restore ancient terraces, and safeguard a landscape of rare beauty and remarkable complexity. Vines here grow in extreme conditions, on steep slopes with gradients of over 50%, cultivated with the traditional pergola training system known locally as topia. The vines are supported by conical stone pillars (pilun) and wooden beams, a centuries-old agricultural architecture that blends seamlessly with nature.

Today, the estate manages 3 hectares of certified organic vineyards (within 12 hectares of total property) with vines ranging from 50 to over 100 years of age, rooted in the morainic soils left by retreating glaciers. These mineral-rich, acidic soils give the wines remarkable verticality, freshness, elegance, and austerity. Annual production reaches only 7,000–8,000 bottles, divided among five labels, all crafted with an artisanal, natural approach.

In the vineyard, no chemical treatments are used, and the work is entirely manual, demanding and respectful of the environment. In the cellar, fermentation is carried out spontaneously with indigenous yeasts, and aging takes place mainly in stainless steel or large neutral oak barrels, with just one tonneau used for their flagship Nebbiolo, Darecà. This philosophy reflects a deep respect for tradition while embracing a modern, conscious vision of natural winemaking.

The ampelographic heritage of Figliej is extraordinary: more than 25 native grape varieties are cultivated here, including Nebbiolo (Picotendro), Neretto Gentile, Barbera, Croatina, Bonarda, Chatus, Uva Rara, and Erbaluce, along with rare, almost forgotten cultivars. Nebbiolo remains the heart of the estate, producing elegant, long-lived wines with a character that recalls the finesse of Burgundy, yet other varieties also contribute to giving voice to a territory that rejects uniformity and standardization.

The Figliej project is far more than just a winery: it is a story of agricultural rebirth, of a dream nurtured with passion and sacrifice, restoring dignity to forgotten lands. The wines – including Darecà, Toppia, and Chèmp – embody the rugged yet delicate beauty of the Alto Canavese landscape: vertical and austere like the mountains, yet vibrant and expressive, with balsamic freshness, minerality, and a distinctive purity. Figliej stands as a true symbol of heroic viticulture, offering wines that are both original and deeply tied to their terroir, capable of captivating wine lovers seeking authenticity and emotion in every glass.
