Canavese Rosso Darecà 2018 Figliej
The Darecà Canavese Rosso 2018 by Figliej is born in the wild, pristine highlands of Settimo Vittone, just a few kilometers from Carema. The vineyard is located on steep, small terraced plots, where centenary vines trained in the traditional pergola system root deeply in morainic bedrock, imparting structure, verticality, and expressive finesse to the wines.
Bianca Seardo and Riccardo Prola reclaimed the family vineyards in 2016, practicing certified organic viticulture and relying on indigenous yeast fermentations. Darecà is produced from centenary Nebbiolo Picotendro vines, literally “behind the house,” producing a wine of exceptional depth, complexity, and elegance.
In the glass, Darecà shows a light ruby-red color, with an austere, nebbioleggiante, and toasted bouquet revealing leather, powder, eucalyptus, toasted notes, and dried flowers—typical of high-altitude Nebbiolo. The palate is structured and commanding, with refined tannins and a long, profound finish, perfectly expressing the mountain character and the terroir’s natural austerity.
Aged for 12 months in a single small wooden barrel, Darecà represents a fine example of terroir-driven Nebbiolo, combining power and opulence with surprising finesse. Ideal with roasts, braised dishes, game, or aged cheeses, it is also a contemplative wine, perfect for slow, attentive tasting. Darecà tells the story of high Canavese, Figliej’s philosophy, and the artisan care of its producers.
