Canavese Rosso Toppia 2018 Figliej
The Toppia Canavese Rosso 2018 by Figliej originates in the wild, pristine highlands of Settimo Vittone, just a few kilometers from Carema. The vineyards, trained in the traditional pergola system on steep, small terraces, root deeply in morainic bedrock, imparting exceptional verticality, structure, finesse, and elegance to the wines.
Bianca Seardo and Riccardo Prola reclaimed the family vineyards in 2016, adopting certified organic viticulture without chemical treatments, following traditional practices and relying on spontaneous fermentations in the winery.
Toppia is produced from 70-year-old Nebbiolo Picotendro vines, resulting in a wine renowned for elegance, finesse, and expressiveness. It almost evokes a Burgundian delicacy in its lightness, yet retains a solid and vertical structure. In the glass, Toppia shows a light ruby-red color, with a delicate and understated bouquet, featuring notes of incense, bitter orange, currant, balsamic, and powder.
The palate is fine, fresh, and deep, with silky tannins and a long balsamic finish, fully expressing the mountain character and terroir of high Canavese. Toppia is a pure mountain Nebbiolo, an authentic and direct expression of Figliej’s philosophy: artisan care, respect for nature, and meticulous attention to detail.
