Perseverance 2018 Figliej
The Perseverance 2018 from Figliej originates in the high Canavese region, in Settimo Vittone, less than five kilometers from Carema. This area is defined by steep, small terraced vineyards trained in the traditional pergola system, where the vine arms rest on wooden pilons. The vines, aged between 20 and 100 years, root themselves in morainic bedrock, imparting freshness, verticality, and expressive finesse to the wines.
The Figliej project was born from the vision of Bianca Seardo and Riccardo Prola, who in 2016 reclaimed family vineyards and pastures, committing to biological viticulture, free from chemical treatments, and embracing indigenous yeast fermentations. The Perseverance perfectly embodies this philosophy: grapes undergo a brief skin maceration and spontaneous fermentation in steel, followed by 12 months of aging in stainless tanks, preserving purity, freshness, and the vertical profile of the wine.
In the glass, the Perseverance 2018 displays a bright golden color, with a complex and stimulating bouquet. Floral notes blend seamlessly with mineral and fruity impressions, highlighting chamomile, hay, and honey. The palate is dynamic, fresh, sapid, and flowing, reflecting the noble austerity and verticality typical of high-altitude mountain whites. This wine impresses with balance and harmony, ideal both on its own or paired with traditional Piedmontese cuisine, white meats, and fresh cheeses.
The Perseverance 2018 is a prime example of a “mountain white,” a wine that showcases its territory and the meticulous, respectful work of the winemakers. Its personality is both assertive and refined, appealing to both connoisseurs and newcomers seeking authentic, profound Italian whites.
