Monferrato Nebbiolo 2023 Jérémy Recchione
The Monferrato Nebbiolo 2023 by Jérémy Recchione is a remarkable meeting of two great winemaking worlds: the finesse of Burgundy and the nobility of Piedmont’s Nebbiolo. This wine originates from Garbagnina, near Capriata d’Orba, where clay-limestone soils at around 200 meters of altitude offer the perfect conditions to express the variety’s aromatic precision and mineral tension.
Vinified with meticulous care and minimal intervention, 60% of the grapes are fermented as whole clusters, following a three-day cold pre-fermentation maceration to gently extract aroma and freshness. The fermentation lasts 15 days in stainless steel tanks, followed by a slow pressing and 10 months of aging in 228-liter French oak barrels (pièces), which contribute structure and roundness without overpowering the fruit.
In the glass, the wine displays a bright, transparent ruby hue typical of young Nebbiolo. The nose reveals an elegant bouquet of rose petals, small red fruits, sweet spices, and subtle earthy tones. On the palate, it shows vibrant tension, silky tannins, and refined balance, combining the varietal character of Nebbiolo with a distinctly Burgundian sense of grace.
Jérémy Recchione is a French vigneron deeply in love with the vineyards of Piedmont. After working in Meursault, Gevrey-Chambertin, and even Australia, he founded a micro-négoce focused on high-end, small-production wines. His approach blends technical precision with artisanal sensitivity, crafting wines that reflect both terroir and personality.
The Monferrato Nebbiolo 2023 is a brilliant example of this philosophy — an intense yet elegant red wine, capable of offering immediate pleasure and long-term evolution. It represents a fresh, original take on Nebbiolo: pure, floral, mineral, and deeply expressive, where Piedmont meets Burgundy in perfect harmony.
