Colosi Winery, located on Salina, in the heart of the Aeolian Islands, has been producing unique wines for over 40 years, capturing the essence of the territory through light, wind, and sea. With 10 hectares of terraced vineyards on volcanic soils, the estate cultivates only native Sicilian and Aeolian grape varieties, including Malvasia, Inzolia, Catarratto, Nero d’Avola, Nerello Mascalese, and Corinto Nero. Colosi wines – whites, reds, rosés, and passito – express the typicity, freshness, and minerality of the volcanic terroir while respecting local winemaking traditions and the environment. The winery, immersed in the vineyards, ensures optimal fermentation and natural aging.

Founded and run by the Colosi family, the winery stands out for its careful vineyard management and dedication to native grape varieties. The volcanic soils of Salina, with optimal sun exposure and the scents of Mediterranean scrub, give the wines structure, minerality, and personality. The vineyards are cultivated on terraced walls, restoring ancient agricultural traditions, and include historic varieties such as Malvasia delle Lipari, Inzolia, Catarratto, Corinto Nero, and Nerello Mascalese, which embody the character of the islands.

The Colosi family’s story is deeply intertwined with winemaking and quality: from grandfather Pietro Senior, who worked alongside Carlo Hauner, to Piero and the third Pietro, a trained oenologist from San Michele all’Adige, the generational continuity ensures expertise, innovation, and respect for the terroir. The estate extends beyond Salina with long-term contracts with selected Sicilian growers (over 90 hectares total in Marsala, Mazara, and Riesi), guaranteeing a high-quality production closely linked to native grape varieties.

The winery, partially underground and surrounded by vineyards, maintains a constant temperature for ideal vinification and aging conditions. White and red wines combine modern technology with tradition, while the passito and natural Malvasia wines represent the sweet excellence of the Aeolian Islands, with warm, velvety aromas and delicate tannins, perfect as meditation or dessert wines.
