Grüner Veltliner 2018 Pacherhof
The Pacherhof Grüner Veltliner Alto Adige Valle Isarco DOC is a compelling expression of this grape variety in South Tyrol, combining alpine freshness, aromatic finesse, and depth. The vineyards are located near Novacella in the Bressanone basin, between 600 and 670 meters above sea level, where strong temperature variations enhance aromatic complexity and preserve acidity.
The soils, composed of permeable moraine deposits rich in mica schist, paragneiss, and quartzite, ensure excellent drainage and contribute to the wine’s mineral tension and structure. The relatively young vines (8–12 years), trained in Guyot system, deliver precise aromatics and expressive intensity.
Vinification involves a slow fermentation in stainless steel at controlled temperature, followed by a split aging process: 60% in large 20 hl wooden casks and 40% in stainless steel, for about 6 months on fine lees. This method adds complexity and structure while maintaining freshness and clarity.
On the nose, it reveals herbal notes, spicy nuances, and a distinctive hint of white pepper, typical of Grüner Veltliner. On the palate, it is fresh, aromatic, and well-balanced, with an elegant structure and a long, mineral-driven finish. It offers remarkable aging potential, up to 15 years, developing further complexity over time.
Ideal with speck, light appetizers, grilled fish, seafood salads, and white meats, this is a versatile and refined wine that reflects both the style of Pacherhof and the unique terroir of Valle Isarco.
