Erbaluce di Caluso “Vigna Crava” 2020 Gnavi Carlo
The Erbaluce di Caluso “Vigna Crava” 2020 is the flagship cru of Gnavi Carlo Winery, a refined and distinctive expression of the Erbaluce grape that captures the essence and longevity of this noble Piedmontese variety. The grapes come from the historic Bric vineyard in Regione Crava, Caluso, owned by the Gnavi family for generations. Located between 340 and 380 meters above sea level, the vines, averaging over 60 years of age, enjoy a full southern exposure that ensures optimal ripeness and balance.
For more than 120 years, the Gnavi family has cultivated Erbaluce using the traditional Topia (Canavese pergola) system — a labor-intensive method that reflects a deep respect for nature and craftsmanship. Each phase, from pruning to hand-harvesting, is carried out with care and precision, yielding golden, perfectly ripe grapes essential for creating this elegant and complex still wine.
In the glass, it shines with a deep straw-yellow color and golden reflections. The bouquet is refined and mineral, with floral undertones and hints of ripe white fruit, aromatic herbs, and balsamic notes. On the palate, it is dry, fresh, and mineral, marked by bright acidity, savory minerality, and remarkable length. The overall impression is of harmony, finesse, and terroir-driven authenticity.
Excellent with fish dishes, appetizers, white meats, soft or aged cheeses, and even spicy or Asian cuisine, this Erbaluce is a versatile and sophisticated wine, perfect to enjoy alone or during a memorable meal.
