Erbaluce di Caluso “Lusenta” 2018 Marco Rossa
The Erbaluce di Caluso “Lusenta” 2018 by Marco Rossa is a refined expression of one of Piedmont’s oldest and most distinctive native grape varieties: Erbaluce. Produced between the villages of Borgomasino and Maglione in the Canavese area, this wine comes from vineyards located between 260 and 300 meters above sea level on glacial morainic soils rich in minerals, which give the wine its characteristic freshness and savory profile.
Marco Rossa Winery follows a traditional and terroir-focused philosophy, aiming to preserve the varietal purity and authenticity of Erbaluce through precise and minimally invasive winemaking techniques. The vineyards are trained using the Guyot system, while harvesting is carried out manually between the second and third week of September with careful grape selection directly in the vineyard.
After destemming, the grapes undergo gentle pressing to maintain aromatic finesse and balance. The must is naturally clarified through cold settling before alcoholic fermentation begins with selected indigenous yeasts at controlled temperatures between 16 and 18 °C for approximately 15 to 18 days. The wine then ages for 6 months in stainless steel on its fine lees, with regular bâtonnage to enhance texture and complexity, followed by at least 3 additional months in bottle before release.
In the glass, it shows a bright straw yellow color with greenish reflections. The bouquet is elegant and complex, featuring aromas of white flowers, citrus fruits, aromatic herbs and pronounced mineral notes. On the palate, it is fresh, balanced and savory, with vibrant citrus flavors and a refined fresh almond finish that adds persistence and character.
Ideal with Piedmontese appetizers, freshwater fish, shellfish, fresh cheeses and vegetarian dishes, “Lusenta” is an authentic Erbaluce capable of fully expressing the elegance and minerality of the Canavese terroir.
