Bourgogne Rouge Coteaux de Dijon 2024 Domaine de la Cras
The Bourgogne Rouge Coteaux de Dijon 2024 perfectly reflects Marc Soyard’s philosophy of producing wines that faithfully express both vineyard and vintage. Following his formative years at the renowned Domaine Bizot, Soyard has dedicated himself to revealing the remarkable potential of the Coteaux de Dijon through meticulous organic farming and low-intervention winemaking.
The Pinot Noir vines grow on limestone-rich soils, providing freshness, precision and an unmistakable mineral backbone. Vineyard management follows organic and biodynamic principles, while the cellar work relies on spontaneous fermentations with indigenous yeasts, extensive use of whole clusters, and minimal or no sulphur additions depending on the vintage. Every decision aims to preserve the wine’s natural energy and authenticity.
The wine displays a brilliant ruby-red colour of moderate intensity. The nose is expressive and captivating, offering aromas of ripe cherry, plum and wild red berries, layered with intriguing notes of cola, woodland herbs, black pepper, sweet spices and subtle toasted oak. As the wine opens, it reveals increasing aromatic complexity while maintaining exceptional freshness.
On the palate, the wine is elegant and beautifully balanced. Silky tannins frame a juicy core of vibrant fruit, while lively acidity and pronounced minerality provide precision and remarkable drinkability. The finish is long, savoury and persistent, leaving lingering notes of liquorice, delicate spice and fresh red berries.
Far more than a simple regional Burgundy, this cuvée demonstrates Marc Soyard’s exceptional ability to elevate humble appellations into wines of remarkable character, purity and ageing potential, offering an authentic expression of modern Burgundy craftsmanship.
