The Barolo Castelletto Vigna Pressenda by Conterno Fantino is a profound and elegant expression of Monforte d’Alba. The vineyard sits at around 350 meters above sea level, on south-facing slopes with calcareous-clay soils that yield structured, age-worthy Nebbiolo.
Fermentation takes place in oak tronco-conical vats with long macerations. The wine then ages for 24 months in French oak barriques, followed by a year of bottle aging. The winemaking approach seeks to preserve fruit purity while allowing the terroir to shine.
In the glass, it shows an intense garnet color. The nose reveals layers of ripe cherry, dried violet, licorice, tobacco, leather, and a subtle mineral edge. The palate is dense yet refined, with firm but polished tannins, vibrant acidity, and a long, savory finish.
