Barolo 2021 G.B. Burlotto
The Barolo DOCG 2021 from G.B. Burlotto is a pure expression of classic Barolo philosophy, emphasizing balance, typicity, and respect for terroir. Cultivated in Verduno, the northernmost commune of the Barolo appellation, the vineyards sit on complex calcareous soils, formed between the Tortonian and Messinian periods, dominated by Sant’Agata fossil marl laminates and the Cassano Spinola Formation. These soils lend the Nebbiolo finesse, aromatic tension, and natural structural elegance.
This Barolo is produced from the traditional blending of multiple vineyards, each with different exposures and altitudes, contributing complementary layers and depth to the final wine. Hand-harvested Nebbiolo grapes undergo careful fermentation in open French oak vats, with gentle punch-downs and remontage to preserve the fruit’s integrity and varietal identity.
The wine then matures in large Allier oak casks for up to 33 months, depending on the vintage, achieving natural balance without forced intervention. In the glass, the Barolo 2021 from G.B. Burlotto reveals fine, progressive tannins, a tall and poised structure, and an evolving aromatic profile that favors depth and consistency over sheer power.
A classic Barolo in its noblest sense, it transports the taster to the authentic atmosphere of the Langhe, with quiet yet enduring persuasion. This is a wine for long-term aging, perfect for those seeking elegance, identity, and historical continuity in a Barolo.
