Barbera d’Alba 2024 G.B. Burlotto
The Barbera d’Alba DOC 2024 by G.B. Burlotto is a faithful interpretation of Piedmontese tradition, crafted with restraint and respect for the grape. Often described as “the young red wine of Piedmontese cuisine”, this Barbera is conceived as a wine of service: energetic yet discreet, capable of supporting the meal without ever overshadowing it.
The Barbera grapes are hand-harvested, carefully selected and transported in 20 kg crates to preserve fruit integrity. After destemming, the must is transferred by gravity into open French oak vats and stainless steel tanks, where alcoholic fermentation takes place. Throughout maceration, gentle pump-overs and punch-downs are performed daily, ensuring a delicate extraction.
The wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in stainless steel, followed by ageing in large French oak casks, a choice that enhances balance while preserving the natural freshness and vibrancy of Barbera. Bottling usually occurs between late August and early September of the year following harvest, in keeping with Burlotto’s traditional philosophy.
In the glass, Barbera d’Alba 2024 shows bright fruit, lively acidity and remarkable clarity. The palate is juicy, straightforward and fluid, offering a clean, refreshing finish that invites another sip. A wine of honest well-being, rooted in Piedmont’s culinary culture and signed by one of Langhe’s most respected producers.
