Alta Langa Extra Brut 2019 - Marziano Abbona
The Alta Langa Extra Brut 2019 by Marziano Abbona is a refined interpretation of Piedmont’s sparkling wine heritage, born from over two decades of research and experimentation. Crafted from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, it expresses purity, freshness, and remarkable depth.
The grapes come from estate vineyards surrounding the winery, planted on hilly soils that ensure perfect ripening and balanced acidity. After a gentle pressing, only the first 50% of the juice (the purest “mosto fiore”) is used. The must undergoes a slow alcoholic fermentation at 15–18°C for about ten days, preserving its delicate aromas.
The wine then ages for 7 months on its lees before being bottled for the secondary fermentation, which starts in March 2015 with selected yeasts and develops over 40–60 days at 14–16°C. The bottles rest on the lees for 48 months, allowing complexity and creaminess to evolve naturally. Disgorgement took place in March 2019, without any liqueur d’expédition, remaining true to the Extra Brut style.
In the glass, it shines with a brilliant straw yellow color and fine, persistent bubbles. The nose is elegant and expressive, offering notes of yellow fruit, white flowers, toasted bread and yeasts. On the palate, it is full, creamy, fresh and mineral, with a long, precise finish that enhances its vibrant personality.
The Alta Langa Extra Brut 2019 is a new and exciting addition to the Abbona portfolio — a sparkling wine that combines structure, finesse and longevity. Ideal as an aperitif, it pairs beautifully with seafood, shellfish, aged cheeses, or enjoyed on its own to appreciate its purity and sophistication.
