Vino Rosso “Umberta” 2021 Cascina Iuli
The “Umberta” 2021 by Cascina Iuli embodies the essence of Fabrizio Iuli’s winemaking philosophy: creating wines that are true to the land, approachable, and full of life. Named after a dear friend, “Umberta” is more than a wine — it’s a tribute to femininity, energy, and authenticity. It represents the gateway to the Iuli style, where freshness and integrity meet simplicity and charm.
The grapes come from vineyards in Cerrina Monferrato, planted between 1940 and 1999, on loose calcareous-clay soils at about 250 meters above sea level. After manual harvesting, fermentation occurs spontaneously in cement tanks with indigenous yeasts, followed by a 20-day maceration and 10–11 months of aging in cement, then 3 months in bottle. No fining or filtration ensures a pure, unadulterated expression of the grape.
In the glass, it shows bright ruby hues and aromas of cherry, raspberry, and floral nuances. On the palate, it’s fresh, lively, and balanced, with a refreshing acidity that enhances drinkability. Perfect with legume soups, stews, traditional Piedmontese boiled meats, and medium-aged cheeses, this red wine is sincere, joyful, and effortlessly elegant — a perfect introduction to the spirit of Cascina Iuli.
