Vino Rosso "Rossore" 2017 Iuli
Rossore 2017 from Cascina Iuli originates in the Basso Monferrato hills, around Montaldo di Cerrina, from a single native Piedmontese red grape variety vinified on its own. Since 1998, Fabrizio Iuli has led the estate with a philosophy of natural winemaking, aiming to express the soul of his terroir with minimal intervention.
The vineyards, planted between 1985 and 1990 at 350 meters above sea level, grow on loose, calcareous-clay soils, providing the wine with structure and finesse. After a 21–28 day maceration and spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts in cement vats below 30°C, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and matures for 24 months in large oak barrels (17–25 hl). It is then bottle-aged for 6 months, without fining or filtration.
The name “Rossore” (“blush”) recalls the warm color it leaves on the cheeks after a glass – a charming nod to its inviting drinkability. In the glass, it shows a deep ruby red color with purple hues; on the nose, it releases aromas of cherry, strawberry, plum, violet, and sweet spices. The palate is balanced and full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a lingering, elegant finish.
An authentic expression of Monferrato, Rossore perfectly embodies the tradition and purity of Cascina Iuli, pairing beautifully with red meats, braised dishes, and aged cheeses.
