Ambiziosa 2020 – Kalamass
“Ambiziosa” 2020 is one of the most emblematic wines from the young Canavese winery Kalamass. It originates from historic vineyards rooted on the Serra Morenica slopes near Ivrea — a unique terroir shaped by ancient glaciers. The philosophy behind this red wine is clear: to express the raw purity of the fruit and the natural energy of the land, crafting a wine that tells its story without artifice.
Fermentation takes place in stainless steel with a portion of whole clusters, enhancing structure and aromatic tension. A long maceration on the skins deepens color and complexity, while 12 months in used French barriques allow the wine to evolve gracefully, softening tannins while preserving its vibrant soul. After this period, “Ambiziosa” rests for another year in the bottle to achieve perfect balance and harmony.
In the glass, it shines with a luminous ruby hue. The bouquet opens with floral and fresh red fruit notes, followed by hints of earth, spice, and stone. On the palate, it’s both vibrant and refined, marked by freshness and a persistent mineral backbone that reflects its glacial origins. This is a red wine that merges tradition with vision — spontaneous, authentic, and full of personality.
“Ambiziosa” represents Kalamass’s dedication to sustainable and respectful viticulture. From the 2022 vintage onward, this wine will join the official Canavese DOC appellation — a well-deserved recognition for a label that celebrates the spirit and resilience of the Canavese hills.
