Frale – Vino Bianco da Uve Stramature – La Campore
The Frale – Sweet White Wine from Late-Harvest Grapes by La Campore is a tribute to the timeless art of Canavese winemaking. It is born from a meticulous selection of the healthiest, most loosely clustered grapes, chosen one by one from different plots rather than a single vineyard. Each bunch is carefully hand-picked and laid in a single layer inside small wooden crates, then hung on wooden racks inside the estate’s historic drying loft (passitaia).
There, the grapes slowly lose water under natural conditions, concentrating sugars and aromas until they reach the perfect level of richness. Once ready, they are pressed using an ancient hydraulic press, and the must is left to ferment gently in vats. The wine then undergoes a long ageing process of 4–5 years in small wooden barrels, followed by 2–3 years of bottle ageing before release.
The result is an amber-gold dessert wine of extraordinary depth and harmony. The bouquet is intense and refined, with notes of honey, dried fruit, cocoa, and delicate spice. The palate is smooth and velvety, combining sweetness and freshness in perfect balance. Defined by La Campore as “the winter sun”, this rare wine shines when paired with blue or mature cheeses and classic dry pastries from Piedmont.
