Vino Bianco da Uva Stramatura “Piculin” – Marziano Abbona
The Vino Bianco da Uva Stramatura “Piculin” is one of the most fascinating creations by Marziano Abbona, born from the desire to explore the full potential of Moscato in an elegant and complex sweet version. It results from a patient drying process, first on the vine and then on racks in ventilated rooms, concentrating sugars and aromas while maintaining the grape’s natural freshness.
After a gentle pressing and slow alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel, the wine is aged for a long time in oak barrels, where it gains depth and subtle spicy notes. The malolactic fermentation is not carried out, preserving a pleasant acidity that balances the natural sweetness of Moscato.
In the glass, Piculin shows a bright golden yellow color with a dense and luminous texture. The bouquet is intense and varietal, revealing hints of honey, white flowers, acacia, linden, and chamomile, followed by delicate notes of vanilla and sweet spices from barrel aging.
On the palate, it’s velvety and enveloping, displaying an impeccable balance between sweetness and acidity, which gives it remarkable freshness despite its richness. Honeyed and fruity nuances evolve into a vibrant, mineral, and citrus finish, inviting another sip.
The Piculin by Marziano Abbona is a meditation wine, but it also pairs beautifully with pastries, hazelnut or almond biscuits, fruit tarts, and apple strudel. Thanks to its gentle acidity and spicy undertones, it’s also excellent with aged or blue cheeses, offering a refined and unexpected pairing.
A passito wine of great personality, combining finesse, balance, and aromatic depth, and perfectly expressing the Abbona family’s passion for authentic, long-lived Langhe wines.
