Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore 2021 La Staffa
La Staffa’s Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore 2021 stands as one of the most authentic and transparent expressions of this iconic Italian white wine appellation. The estate revolves around the vision of Riccardo Baldi, a passionate young winemaker who has devoted his work to Verdicchio as the true voice of the Castelli di Jesi territory. Organic certification and an artisanal approach embody his commitment to purity, sustainability and territorial identity.
The vineyards, planted at around 400 meters above sea level on clay-limestone soils, offer the ideal environment for structure, minerality and aromatic precision. With an average vine age of about 30 years, the grapes achieve balance and concentration. After a manual harvest, the grapes undergo a soft pressing before the must is transferred into stainless steel and cement tanks, where spontaneous fermentation takes place thanks to indigenous yeasts. The wine matures in the same vessels for six months, followed by an additional three months in bottle.
In the glass, the wine shows an intense straw-yellow color. The nose is clean and expressive, revealing white fruit, floral tones, hay, flint and subtle saline hints. The palate is vibrant and dynamic, driven by refreshing acidity and a saline streak that extends the finish. This is a Verdicchio with character, balance and an unmistakable territorial imprint.
Excellent with seafood, sushi, shellfish, vegetable-based dishes and fresh cheeses, it is a versatile and elegant white wine that shines in Mediterranean cuisine and rewards attentive tasting.
