Touraine Oisly “Fabel Barbou” 2019 Domaine des Corbillières
The Touraine Oisly “Fabel Barbou” 2019 from Domaine des Corbillières is a tribute to Fabel Barbou, the estate’s founder who first planted Sauvignon Blanc in Oisly in the early 20th century. Today, this cuvée stands as the domaine’s flagship wine, showcasing the full potential of Touraine Oisly AOC, one of the Loire Valley’s most prestigious designations.
The grapes come from 40 to 55-year-old Sauvignon Blanc vines rooted in sandy and clay soils scattered with small pebbles, quartz, and reddish flints. These poor, mineral-rich soils and the mild Sologne climate create ideal conditions for producing wines of remarkable aromatic intensity and elegance.
Sustainable farming practices are central to the estate’s philosophy: no chemical fertilizers are used, only organic matter, while leaf thinning and strict shoot selection help limit yields to around 45 hl/ha, ensuring exceptional fruit concentration and purity.
Fermentation takes place naturally, lasting 4 to 6 weeks with native yeasts and no chaptalization. The wine is then aged on fine lees until March or April, gaining roundness, depth, and texture.
In the glass, the Touraine Oisly “Fabel Barbou” 2019 displays a bright golden hue. The nose reveals ripe, elegant aromas of exotic fruit, citrus, and floral notes, intertwined with subtle mineral hints. On the palate, it is full-bodied and smooth, combining richness and freshness in perfect harmony. The finish is long, mineral, and persistent, reflecting the essence of Oisly’s exceptional terroir.
This is a Loire Sauvignon Blanc of great distinction, ideal with fine seafood dishes, shellfish, poultry in creamy sauces, or aged goat cheese. A wine that demonstrates both the heritage of the Barbou family and the expressive potential of the Touraine Oisly appellation.
