Promis Ca' Marcanda 2017 Gaja
Promis 2017 is a fine Tuscan wine produced by Ca Marcanda. The winery is owned by Gaja, one of the most influential names on the national wine scene, who, after taking Piedmontese Barbaresco to unprecedented heights, decided to extend his holdings to produce elegant and excellent wines that reflect different territories.
Ca Marcanda is located in Bolgheri, Tuscany, and gives life to this great Supertuscan wine made from a blend of international grape varieties typical of the Bolgheri area (Merlot 55% and Syrah 35%) plus 10% of the indigenous Tuscan Sangiovese. What makes this wine excellent is the careful and meticulous work carried out at every stage of production, starting in the vineyard, where the best bunches of grapes are strictly selected, and then in the cellar, where slow, spontaneous and non-invasive processes are favoured. After fermentation, the wine is aged for 18 months in French oak barriques.
The "Promis" Ca' Marcanda shows an intense ruby red colour, on the nose it expresses a seductive and complex bouquet of ripe red fruit, toasted and spicy hints with a background of balsamic notes. In the mouth it is structured and enveloping, with a nice freshness and important tannic texture, with a long and intense persistence. A proof of how an important wine does not have to be austere, with its great elegance and drinking pleasure.
