“Braje” Ormeasco di Pornassio Sciac-Trà DOC 2022 Lupi
The “Braje” Sciac-Trà 2022 by Lupi is a D.O.C. Ormeasco di Pornassio rosé wine, produced from Ormeasco grapes grown exclusively in the Braje vineyard in Pornassio, in the Ligurian hinterland. “Sciac-Trà”, meaning “draw it off early” in the local dialect, refers to the traditional salasso method, where the must is separated from the skins after a short maceration to achieve its signature pink hue.
This is one of Italy’s smallest and most distinctive appellations, with just over 30 hectares, stretching across the scenic slopes where the mountains meet the sea. The silty-loam soil and south-east exposure give the wine freshness, aromatic depth, and a touch of minerality.
In the glass, it shows a deep, bright cherry-pink color. The bouquet is fragrant with fresh cherries, ripe red fruits, and floral nuances, while the palate is smooth, balanced, and refreshing, with a lingering mineral finish.
Fermented and aged in stainless steel for six months on fine lees and two months in bottle, the “Braje” Sciac-Trà is a rosé of true identity and finesse, ideal with seafood starters, grilled fish, cured meats, or Ligurian focaccia, and perfect as a fresh, elegant summer wine.
