The Nizza “I Cipressi” 2020 from Michele Chiarlo is one of the most refined expressions of the Nizza DOCG, showcasing the elegance and power of premium Piedmontese Barbera. Sourced from selected vineyards at 230–280 meters above sea level on sandy, marl-calcareous soils, this wine reflects the unique terroir where centuries of winemaking tradition meet meticulous viticulture.
In the glass, it displays a deep, compact ruby hue. The nose offers a harmonious bouquet of ripe red berries, hints of preserved fruit, subtle spices, and tobacco. The palate is medium-to-full-bodied, round and enveloping, with soft tannins and lively freshness guiding the sip towards a long, elegant, and savory finish, complemented by a gentle balsamic note.
Following fermentation in stainless steel tanks with 10–12 days of maceration, the wine matures for 12 months in large oak casks, followed by 6 months in bottle. This dual maturation enhances aromatic complexity, balance, and harmony, making it enjoyable young yet capable of further aging.
