Merlot “Ad Nonam” 2018 Tenuta Mosole
The Merlot “Ad Nonam” 2018 DOC Venezia by Tenuta Mosole is a wine that embodies history, terroir and winemaking ambition. Its name refers to the ninth milestone along the ancient Roman road connecting Opitergium (Oderzo) and Julia Concordia (Concordia Sagittaria), highlighting the deep cultural roots of the area.
Made from 100% Merlot, it originates from a carefully selected 3-hectare vineyard located in Santo Stino di Livenza, characterized by clay soils, ideal for expressing the full potential of this grape variety, much like in some of the world’s most renowned wine regions. Different vineyard parcels are vinified separately to enhance the diversity linked to vine age and increase complexity.
Fermentation takes place in concrete tanks at controlled temperatures between 30° and 32°C, ensuring optimal extraction of color, structure and phenolic compounds. After fermentation, the wine is transferred to 225-liter French oak barrels, where it ages for approximately 24 months in an underground cellar. The use of barrels from different cooperages and toast levels creates a complex and well-integrated aromatic profile, without overpowering the wine.
Careful racking operations, guided by regular tastings, refine the wine and enhance its purity. The goal is not to replicate the same wine every year, but to produce the best possible expression of Ad Nonam, balancing elegance, finesse, length and structure.
In the glass, it shows a deep and intense red color. The nose reveals layered aromas of ripe fruit, spices and subtle toasted notes. On the palate, it is powerful yet refined, with a solid structure supported by velvety tannins and a long, persistent finish. A wine that combines depth, balance and sophistication, perfect with red meats, game and rich dishes.
