Erbaluce di Caluso Spumante Millesimato DOCG “Masilé” Pas Dosé 2016 – La Masera
The Masilé Pas Dosé 2016 from La Masera represents the purest expression of Erbaluce di Caluso DOCG. Produced exclusively from 100% Erbaluce grapes grown in the morainic hills of Settimo Rottaro, in the heart of the Canavese area, it reflects the unique terroir of sandy-clay soils rich in minerals and pebbles, ideal for wines of finesse and longevity.
Harvested by hand in early September, the grapes are carefully selected to ensure perfect ripeness and balance. After gentle pressing, the must undergoes a slow, temperature-controlled fermentation (15–16°C), mostly in French oak barrels and tonneaux, enhancing the wine’s structure while maintaining its varietal purity.
The base wine then rests for six months on the lees with weekly bâtonnage, enriching texture and aromatic depth. Secondary fermentation takes place in the bottle, followed by 36–40 months of aging on the lees. The disgorgement is carried out without any sugar addition (Pas Dosé), resulting in a sparkling wine of striking precision and clarity.
In the glass, it shows an intense straw-yellow color with golden hues and a fine, persistent perlage. The nose is complex and elegant, offering aromas of bread crust, herbs, dried flowers, and toasted almond. On the palate, it is dry, crisp, and mineral, with a vibrant freshness and a lingering almond note on the finish.
The Masilé Pas Dosé 2016 is an outstanding example of the Erbaluce grape’s potential for high-quality sparkling wine. Perfect as an aperitif or throughout the meal, it pairs beautifully with seafood, shellfish, risotto, and delicate white meats. A refined expression of La Masera’s craftsmanship and the Canavese’s authentic winemaking tradition.
