Erbaluce di Caluso 2020 Kalamass
Erbaluce di Caluso 2020 from Kalamass comes from the morainic hills of Ivrea, a distinctive alpine terroir shaped by ancient glaciers. The sandy and stony soils give this native variety — Erbaluce — its unmistakable freshness and minerality, while the cool climate enhances its aromatic precision and tension.
Kalamass embraces a philosophy of minimal intervention: the goal is to let the vineyard speak through the wine. After manual harvesting, 30% of the must ferments in used oak barriques, while 70% ferments in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. The wine then ages for 12 months on fine lees with regular bâtonnage, followed by two years in bottle, gaining texture, complexity, and finesse.
In the glass, it shines with a bright straw-yellow hue. The nose reveals aromas of citrus, white flowers, chamomile, and a touch of toasted almond. On the palate, it’s fresh and vibrant, balanced by a subtle creaminess and a long, mineral-driven finish. Persistent and elegant, it’s a wine that mirrors its alpine origins and Kalamass’s commitment to honest, artisanal winemaking.
This Erbaluce di Caluso 2020 stands as a refined and contemporary expression of one of Piedmont’s most distinctive white grapes — a harmonious blend of freshness, structure, and identity.
