Champagne Grand Vintage 2008 Moët & Chandon
The Moët & Chandon Grand Vintage 2008 stands as one of the most emblematic millésimes of the historic Maison of Épernay, offering a refined and luminous interpretation that reflects both the character of the vintage and the unmistakable signature of this legendary producer. Founded in 1743 and now one of the largest and most renowned Champagne houses, Moët & Chandon expresses its highest craftsmanship through the Grand Vintage collection, wines that embody the essence of exceptional years.
The 2008 edition is the 72nd vintage, entirely shaped under the direction of chef de cave Benoît Gouez, who famously stated that this wine is “a vintage according to Moët”, highlighting the balance between vintage identity and the Maison’s stylistic precision. The blend consists of 37% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay and 23% Meunier, aged for over six years on the lees using the traditional champagne method.
On the nose, Grand Vintage 2008 opens with incredible freshness and purity, gradually unveiling white flowers, citrus zest, toasted hazelnut, aromatic herbs and Moët’s signature iodine-fumé minerality. The aromatic evolution in the glass reveals increasing depth and definition.
The palate is vibrant, linear and remarkably tense, driven by a laser-like acidity that shapes a dynamic, lively, perfectly focused Champagne. Citrus and mineral notes return on the finish, cleansing the palate and extending the persistence. While already captivating, this wine shows tremendous ageing potential, destined to evolve into even greater harmony and complexity with time.
A precise, expressive and deeply characterful Champagne—perfect for collectors and enthusiasts seeking a millésime that embodies both elegance and energy.
