Canavese Nebbiolo 2020 – La Masera
Produced by La Masera, the Canavese Nebbiolo 2020 comes from vineyards located in Settimo Rottaro and Piverone, within the Ivrea Morainic Amphitheatre, a distinctive area of northern Piedmont. The vines grow on rocky, morainic soils rich in sand, clay, and pebbles, benefiting from a cool, breezy climate that enhances the grape’s aromatic profile.
Harvesting takes place by hand in early October, selecting only perfectly ripe and healthy bunches. After gentle destemming and crushing, fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks at 25–26°C, with about twenty days of maceration under the cap to ensure optimal color and tannin extraction. The wine is then aged for 18 to 22 months in oak tonneaux, half new and half second use, where it also undergoes malolactic fermentation. Finally, it is bottled without fining or filtration and rests for another six months before release.
In the glass, it shows a ruby-red hue with garnet reflections. The bouquet is complex and elegant, with notes of red fruits, dried flowers, vanilla, and sweet spices. On the palate, it’s warm, smooth, and velvety, displaying fine tannins and a lingering, balanced finish.
Perfect with roasted meats, aged cheeses, and traditional Piedmontese cuisine, this Canavese Nebbiolo is a refined and expressive interpretation of the variety — a wine that combines territorial authenticity with the timeless elegance of Piedmont’s great reds.
