Barolo Serralunga 2018 Luigi Vico
Luigi Vico's 2018 Barolo Serralunga, as the name suggests, is made from 100% nebbiolo grapes sourced from the town of Serralunga d'Alba, in Piedmont. Fermentation takes place in cement tanks for about 28 days (depending on the vintage), with daily pumping over with mid-period delestages.
Subsequent aging takes place in 15hl Slavonian oak barrels (18 to 36 depending on the vintage). Luigi Vico's Barolo Serralunga 2018 expresses at sight an intense ruby red color, which will turn towards garnet and orange tones with aging.
The nose expresses aromas of ripe fruit such as cherry and raspberry, toasted hints of cocoa and chocolate, spices such as black pepper, for a fresh and savory sip with a pretty smooth tannin. Good even in youth, it will reach a greater balance with age.
