The Roagna Barbaresco Gallina 2016 is a pure, elegant expression of the historic Gallina cru in Neive. The Nebbiolo grapes come from 50+ year-old vines, grown without systemic treatments and harvested manually with strict selection.
The 2016 vintage was classic and balanced, allowing the wine to achieve harmony, aromatic depth, and great ageability. Roagna’s traditional methods include native yeast fermentations, extended macerations of 60 to 90 days, and aging in large neutral oak casks for over 5 years. The wine is bottled without filtration or fining.
It shows a brilliant garnet color in the glass. The nose reveals layers of dried rose petals, wild raspberry, orange zest, tobacco, white pepper, and earthy minerality. On the palate, it is linear and structured, with refined tannins, vibrant acidity, and a long, savory, mineral-laced finish.
A noble and terroir-driven Barbaresco, perfect for aging, but already enchanting. Best enjoyed with game, aged cheeses, and refined meat-based dishes.
