L’Arcione 2010 – La Tunella
L’Arcione 2010 by La Tunella is an outstanding expression of Friuli’s winemaking heritage, born from the union of two indigenous varieties—Pignolo and Schioppettino. These grapes grow on the rolling hills of the Colli Orientali del Friuli, a region protected by the Julian Alps and caressed by the Adriatic breeze. The local soils, composed of marl and sandstone known as “ponca,” provide the perfect foundation for wines of structure and finesse.
Harvested by hand in early October, the grapes undergo a short drying period to concentrate their aromas and flavors. After gentle pressing, the two varieties ferment separately with extended maceration on the skins, then mature in French oak tonneaux for four years before being blended and bottled.
The result is a complex and elegant red wine of remarkable balance and longevity. Its deep ruby color with garnet hues introduces an intense bouquet of blackcurrant, cherry, balsamic wood, leather, licorice, and smoky notes. On the palate, it is round, layered, and persistent, with refined tannins that provide structure without compromising softness and harmony.
L’Arcione La Tunella is a tribute to Friuli’s tradition, craftsmanship, and resilience. It pairs beautifully with roasted meats, game, and mature cheeses, but can also be enjoyed on its own as a meditation wine. A distinctive red that captures the depth and spirit of its land, uniting intensity, elegance, and authenticity in every sip.
