Oremus Tokaji Late Harvest
Oremus Tokaji Late Harvest embodies the modern and refined soul of the Tokaj winemaking tradition — the oldest wine region in Hungary and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Oremus winery, owned by the prestigious Vega Sicilia group, lies in the heart of this legendary area, where volcanic soils and unique climatic conditions allow the noble rot, Botrytis Cinerea, to work its magic.
The wine is crafted from a meticulous blend of Furmint, Hárslevelű, Zéta, and Sárgamuskotály, native grape varieties that together create a perfect harmony between sweetness, freshness and aromatic depth. The harvest is done late and by hand, selecting only bunches with at least 50% of botrytized berries. Fermentation proceeds slowly and naturally, stopping at around 12% alcohol to preserve the natural sweetness.
After fermentation, the Tokaji Late Harvest matures for six months in small oak barrels in the underground cellars of Oremus, where the “Cladosporium cellare” mold enhances its oxidative character. It then refines in the bottle for another year before release.
In the glass, it shows a brilliant golden hue and an elegant bouquet of honey, dried apricot, orange peel and white flowers. The palate is silky and vibrant, offering a delightful balance between sweetness and acidity. A wine of charm and precision, perfect with foie gras, blue cheeses or fruity desserts — the pure expression of the timeless Tokaji style.
