"Quota N - Vino di Contrada" 2022 Edoardo Torres Acosta

The "Quota N - Contrada Wine" by Edoardo Torres Acosta stems from an ancient vineyard on the northwest slopes of Mount Etna, named Contrada Nave. Its name, Quota N, draws inspiration from the local picturesque "quota nave" country roads. Meticulously aged in cement and wood for 9/10 months, this IGT Terre Siciliane red is a succulent and vibrant experience.

Its unique composition comprises 50% Nerello Mascalese, 20% Grenache, and 30% white grapes (Grecanico, Carricante, Coda di volpe) grown on volcanic soil mixed with stones and sand. Cultivated naturally and trained as a bush vine, the vineyard boasts an average plant age of 80 years and is harvested in late October. The winemaking involves spontaneous fermentation in wooden vats and a 15-day maceration on the skins without temperature control. The aging takes place in cement tanks and old 2.28 hl barrels.

The result is a ruby wine with aromas of red fruits, herbal notes, and hints of spices on the nose. The palate reveals a notable freshness, balance, and an inviting minerality. Perfect with pasta dishes, it pairs well with both red and white meats.

Eduardo Torres Acosta is a young producer of natural Sicilian wines. Born in Tenerife, he moved to Sicily in 2012, where he fell in love with the landscape and terroir of Mount Etna and decided to start making his own wine, after experience with producers like Arianna Occhipinti. Her natural wines come from limited vineyard interventions and a natural vinification with spontaneous fermentations with only indigenous yeasts.
