SORPASSO
Sorpasso Winery was born from a dream — and a fable. Inspired by Aesop’s tale of the tortoise and the hare, Martina and Vittorio believe that time, effort and care triumph over haste. Their journey began in 2012, with a small rented vineyard in the steep alpine village of Carema, and a vision to honor its rich winemaking tradition.
Located between the Dora Baltea river and Monte Maletto, Carema is a dramatic amphitheater of terraced vineyards, carved out of rocky slopes at 300–700 meters altitude. It’s a place of heroic viticulture, where everything must be done by hand, and nature demands patience and strength.
With just one hectare of vines, most trained in traditional pergola, Sorpasso produces wines with purity, minerality and an unmistakable alpine soul. They farm sustainably, ferment naturally, and work intimately with each vine — each bottle a reflection of their personal bond with the land.
Sorpasso is not just a winery. It’s a story of passion, persistence and identity — a slow, steady race toward something truly meaningful.
