SCARBOLO
Founded in 1982, Scarbolo is a boutique family winery in Friuli, northeastern Italy, recognized for its focus on Pinot Grigio and characterful reds such as Refosco. The estate extends over 30 hectares of stratified soils, alternating layers of clay, sand, limestone, and gravel deposited by erosion and glacial retreat around 15,000 years ago. The microclimate, shaped by eastern winds from Slovenia, Adriatic sea breezes, and Alpine protection, ensures balanced ripening, producing wines of harmony, elegance, and persistence.
Scarbolo follows SQNPI sustainability practices, with low-yielding, densely planted vineyards to maximize quality and aromatic concentration. The winery philosophy combines tradition and innovation, producing wines that are distinctive, elegant, and age-worthy, faithfully expressing the Friulian terroir.
The portfolio includes several Pinot Grigio expressions (including two ramato styles), the co-fermented white blend My Time, an appassimento Merlot, and the flagship Campo del Viotto Refosco. Managed today by Lara and Mattia Scarbolo, the estate blends continuity, passion, and precision, establishing Scarbolo as one of the most dynamic and respected producers in the region.
