Maccario Dringenberg 's Rossese

Maccario Dringenberg Winery is located in San Biagio della Cima, in the far western part of Liguria, an area defined by steep terraced vineyards overlooking the Mediterranean. Viticulture here is entirely manual: vines are trained in traditional Provençal bush system and planted on narrow terraces that prevent mechanization. This demanding approach ensures direct attention to each vine and forms the qualitative foundation of the estate.

Although the family’s roots date back to the 19th century, the modern chapter began in 1991 when Giovanna Maccario took over the estate and later continued the project with her husband Goetz Dringenberg. The winery is entirely dedicated to Rossese di Dolceacqua DOC, the iconic indigenous grape of the region, interpreted through a precise and terroir-driven philosophy.

Since 2011, the appellation has officially recognized additional geographical units (UGA), corresponding to historic crus. For Maccario Dringenberg, these designations are essential tools to highlight the diversity of the territory. Vineyards such as Luvaira, Posaù, Curli, Pini and Sette Cammini each deliver distinct expressions of Rossese, shaped by specific soils, exposures and altitudes.

Fermentations are mainly carried out in stainless steel to preserve varietal purity, aromatic precision and mineral tension. Today, the winery is widely regarded as one of the benchmarks of Ligurian winemaking, combining family heritage, technical rigor and a deep connection to the land.
