Domaine des Carlines is a young but highly ambitious estate born from a lifelong passion for the Jura and its exceptional terroirs. Created at the end of 2015 by Patrick and Sophie Ligeron, the domaine represents the realization of a dream: producing their own wines in Patrick’s native region after many years spent working in the international wine industry.

The estate is located in Ménétru-le-Vignoble, within the prestigious Château-Chalon appellation, one of the most iconic terroirs of Jura. Today, Domaine des Carlines manages around 11 hectares of vineyards, including plots located in the renowned Château-Chalon area and others classified as Côtes du Jura. The vineyards, aged between 30 and 45 years, are planted on grey marl, clay and limestone soils, providing the wines with remarkable minerality, freshness and complexity.

Before founding their own winery, Patrick and Sophie developed extensive experience in the wine world through their international activities, selecting and promoting small family estates from different French regions. Their deep understanding of terroirs shaped their philosophy: every wine must reflect the identity of its vineyard with the least possible intervention.

The vineyard is farmed according to sustainable practices, moving towards certified organic viticulture. The estate focuses on biodiversity, careful soil management and respect for natural cycles. Grapes are harvested manually, ensuring precise selection and preserving the quality of the fruit.

In the cellar, Domaine des Carlines follows a traditional and minimalist approach. Fermentations occur naturally with indigenous yeasts, while wines are aged in used Burgundy oak barrels for around 12 months on fine lees. The estate favours ouillage ageing without bâtonnage, allowing each cuvée to maintain purity, freshness and a strong sense of place.

The Domaine works with Jura’s emblematic grape varieties: Savagnin, Chardonnay, Poulsard and Pinot Noir. Each wine is produced with a strong focus on individual parcels, highlighting the diversity of the Jura landscape and the unique expression of each soil.

Domaine des Carlines represents the new generation of Jura producers: a small, passionate estate creating wines of authenticity, energy and remarkable depth. Their bottles combine tradition and precision, offering a pure interpretation of one of France’s most fascinating wine regions.
