ALBERAND

The Alberand winery, founded in 2018 by the passionate young winemaker Alex, is located in Salassa and Valperga, at the foot of the Gran Paradiso National Park, in the heart of Canavese, Piedmont. The project was born from a desire to revive the ancient viticulture of the region, combining craftsmanship with respect for the environment and local identity.

The vineyards grow on alluvial soils of medium texture, rich in silt and clay, with a subacid pH. The ancient glacial moraine of the Quaternary period left behind a mixture of stones and gravel that gives Alberand’s wines their structure, freshness, and minerality.

The estate uses both Guyot-trained vines and the traditional “Aeroplano” system, a local training method reminiscent of the Casarsa. The main varieties cultivated are Nebbiolo and Barbera, vinified alone or blended, alongside Erbaluce, the native white grape considered the “King of Canavese”, which Alberand is preparing to release in a sparkling version soon.

Winemaking is artisanal yet precise: manual harvesting, fermentation in stainless steel, and aging in steel or neutral oak barrels create balanced wines that reflect the energy of their terroir. Labels such as Rubiolo, Recetto, Helios, and Demora showcase the authentic taste of Canavese through expressive, vibrant wines that combine elegance and freshness.

Alberand represents the new generation of Canavese winemakers — rooted in tradition but open to innovation, producing wines that tell the story of a land once again at the forefront of Piedmont’s viticultural renaissance.
