“Madrechiesa” Morellino di Scansano Riserva 2014 Terenzi
The “Madrechiesa” Morellino di Scansano Riserva DOCG 2014 by Terenzi is the flagship wine of the estate and the purest expression of its winemaking philosophy. Produced from 100% Sangiovese grown in the Madre Chiesa vineyard, it reflects the identity and strength of the Maremma Toscana terroir.
The vineyard is rooted in deep, well-drained soils rich in skeleton, with coarse sands and clay, ideal for producing structured and concentrated wines. Grapes are hand-harvested, with careful selection to ensure the highest quality.
Winemaking focuses on preserving varietal purity and terroir expression, while aging plays a crucial role in shaping the wine’s profile. It is matured for 12 months in large oak casks, allowing for slow and balanced evolution, followed by 6 months in bottle, enhancing integration and harmony.
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby red color with garnet reflections, indicating maturity and depth. The nose opens with balsamic hints, followed by red and black berries, violet and spices, complemented by a subtle tar (goudron) note, typical of evolved Sangiovese.
On the palate, it is full-bodied, structured and balanced, with a juicy and energetic mouthfeel. The tannins are generous yet refined, providing grip without harshness. The finish is long and persistent, with returning notes of fruit and spice that enhance its complexity.
Ideal with red meats, roasts, game and medium-aged cheeses, this wine stands out for its ability to combine power and elegance, offering a complete and refined tasting experience.
A wine that embodies Tuscan tradition with a modern touch, perfect for those seeking structured and age-worthy reds.
