Migan 2019 Envinate
Envinate's Migan 2019 is a red biodynamic wine produced by the Envinate winery in the Orotava Valley in the north of the island of Tenerife, Canary Islands. It is made from two parcels of old Listan Negro vines raised with the traditional cordon trenzado (intertwined vines) method.
The peculiarity is that the grapes come from two different terroirs: 60% comes from La Habanera on the volcanic sand at 600 meters (1,600 feet) and 40% comes from the older plot of San Antonio, lower on the slope at about 350 meters (1,650 feet) and with more clay. The grapes from the two different parcels are harvested by hand and fermented separately:
La Habanera with 100% whole clusters, San Antonio with 15% whole clusters, in large cement vats, then in 228 and 600 liter French oak barrels for malolactic and aging for 11 months in large oak barrels. Envinate's Migan 2019 is deep ruby red in color, and the nose delivers a complex bouquet of smoky hints, spice, red fruits and mineral notes, for a fresh sip with silky tannins.
