Malvasia 2021 Rado Kocjančič
The Malvasia 2021 by Rado Kocjančič is born in the rugged and wind-swept landscape of the Trieste Karst, where limestone rocks, marine breezes, and the famous bora wind shape a unique terroir. This wine is made exclusively from Malvasia Istriana, one of the oldest and most characteristic grape varieties of the Adriatic coast.
Harvesting is done entirely by hand, selecting only the healthiest grapes. The clusters are gently destemmed and undergo a two-day skin maceration, allowing for a spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts. The wine is then aged partly in stainless steel tanks and partly in wooden barrels, where it rests on its fine lees until spring, gaining texture and aromatic depth.
In the glass, Malvasia 2021 displays a bright straw-yellow color with golden hues. The nose is elegant and fresh, revealing floral aromas, hints of citrus, white peach, and a subtle minerality reminiscent of wet stone and sea air. On the palate, it is lively, savory, and perfectly balanced, with a refreshing acidity that enhances its length and persistence.
This wine beautifully reflects the identity of the Karst, offering both the sunlit character of the Mediterranean and the stony precision of its limestone soils. Ideal as an aperitif or paired with seafood, shellfish, fresh cheeses, or vegetable dishes, the Malvasia 2021 by Rado Kocjančič is a wine of purity, finesse, and territorial authenticity.
